    Situation

    Young people with autism are a vulnerable group and often sidelined by society, which has low aspirations of what they can achieve and equally low levels of understanding of their disability. This makes young people with autism a hard to reach group, often difficult to engage with. Less than 1 in 4 young people with autism go on to further education and only 15% of adults are in full time employment, while 90% remain dependent on families or care.
