Situation
The creative sector is critical to Cornwall’s economy, but there is a skills shortage and so recruitment difficulties due to a lack of applicant experience.There is a also a significant lack of paid employment opportunities in the sector, particularly for people aged 16-24 with consequences for their future employment prospects. This environment has prompted a flight of young creative talent out of the county seeking experience and opportunities, and a loss of creative capacity in our region.
Solution
The establishment of a placement structure integral to the core work of the gallery offering meaningful paid work, will create an ongoing offer to young people to gain critical experience in a well respected arts organisation. They will leave us with in
