Situation
The Coffin Fittings Works has been on English Heritage’s building at risk list since 2004. The contents and machinery in the factory are significant survivals in the industrial history of Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter. BCT has rescued many buildings in its 30+ year history (including the Back to Backs) and now needs to operate from a building so it can develop its volunteer body and become sustainable.
Solution
This project will save and restore a building at risk. A Conservation Studio will be established for conservation work to be carried out on the significant contents and machinery of the factory. The restored building will also provide Birmingham Conservat
