    Situation

Mental health issues among young women are much in the news, particularly the significant rise in depression and anxiety. Deaf women too are at higher risk of mental health problems, but can’t get the early help they need through telephone helplines. The recent press stories of sexual abuse, the #metoo campaign and the national inquiry into childhood sexual abuse have prompted more young women to ask for our help - the number of callers to our telephone helpline increased by 21% in the last year.

    Solution

Our Webchat service can help. For over 30 years Womankind’s mental health services have been run by women for women. We will offer early support through a safe and cost effective service that can reach greater numbers of young women and Deaf/hard of hearing women through a medium that is preferred by them.
