Situation
Across Africa and Asia, governments are reducing the space available for people to speak up about their needs and rights. Relationships between those with power (governments & business) and communities are increasingly dysfunctional leading to restrictions on people's freedoms and an absence of sustainable development.
Solution
Cord uses a three strand approach to work to transform these dysfunctional relationships: Strand 1 equips communities with the ability to constructively engage and collaborate with those in power Strand 2 builds understanding with those in power of the need to collaborate with communities & equips them to do so Strand 3 creates the space for powerholders & communities to constructively engage on key issues This leads to increased trust & confidence & increased protection of people's rights
