    Situation

People who have been homeless struggle to enter the job market. They might have no work history, or a patchy CV. Many homeless people have left education without the qualifications they need. And overall, being homeless saps people's confidence and sense of hope for the future.

    Solution

Emmaus Oxford gives homeless people the space and support to rebuild their skills and find work. We call the formerly homeless people who join us Companions. Companions live and work in our community for as long as they need to. Research suggests that this is the most effective approach for homeless people with complex needs. Over that time we ask each person to work and we fund training and education opportunities. When each person is ready, we help them to find and keep employment.
