Supporting 5,692 children in the Bukedea district of Uganda where help is urgently needed. We will work in partnership with eight schools and communities to break down the barriers that are preventing these children accessing a quality education.

Situation
Over half of Bukedea's population lives in absolute poverty. Families don't have enough income to meet their basic needs, parents can't support their children's learning and inequalities stop vulnerable children going to school. In schools, the buildings are unsuitable, environments are unhygienic with limited access to clean water, teachers struggle in overcrowded classrooms without proper training, and children struggle to learn without resources like desks or books.
Solution
We will work with parents and schools to overcome barriers that stand in the way of children's education. We will teach parents financial skills so they can earn a secure living, support their families and afford their children's education. We will tackle discrimination within communities, helping girls and minorities go to school. We will build safe and accessible classrooms, and improve access to clean drinking water, desks and textbooks, and we will help teachers with training and support.
