Situation
Lack of sanitation and the accompanying private facilities deters many girls from attending school once they start their periods. Even those who do continue attending school find their studies interrupted through concerns caused by the need to use fields and alleyways in full view of passers-by. Similarly, a lack of sanitation facilities breeds an ignorance of basic hygiene practices, therefore perpetuating a continuous state of disease transmission.
