Seek Justice Bangalore 2011 will help bring freedom to 200 men, women and children trapped in bonded slavery in Bangalore, India and provide them with high quality aftercare to help them rebuild their lives. In addition, perpetrators will be prosecuted to ensure justice for victims.

    Situation

    The global problem of modern day slavery: An estimated 27 million people are caught up in contemporary forms of slavery (National Georgraphic). Approximately two-thirds of today’s slaves are in South Asia. Human Rights Watch estimates that in India alone there are as many as 15 million children in bonded slavery. There is a great need for the rescue and care of victims. Bonded labour is illegal in India yet it continues, often due to a broken public justice system which needs to be fixed.
