This pilot will feed over 3,500 Burmese refugee children in Thailand by providing basic food, such as rice and beans. This will improve their nutrition & overall health and ability to concentrate at school. It will also develop a replicable model so that other children can benefit in the future.

    Situation

    Mae Sot area is home to thousands of Burmese refugee children who have fled the fighting in Burma. Many of these children are orphans or have fled home leaving loved ones behind. There are a number of schools that provide an education to these children, and for some a home. School provides a safe place where they can feel secure. Schools also try to provide a lunch for the children, but struggle to find the funds. Many of them are hungry & malnourished and are unable to concentrate at school

    Solution

    This project will provide food to schools so that they can give a nutritious lunch to children at the school. There are a number of ways of providing food, ranging from a cash allowance, to delivery of cooked food, and this pilot will investigate which wa
