This campaign has now closed

Each year the NCO identifies, organises into five age-banded ensembles, trains and gives concert-perfomance experience for the UK's most talented young classical musicians. The fees charged for these courses do not cover the costs so the NCO needs to raise funds to bridge the gap for the Orchestra Year starting January 2010 £300,00 needs to be raised to breakeven. Please help us to provide the very best opportunities for our young musicians.

    Situation

Each year 500 children receive intensive musical coaching on one of NCO's residential and regional courses, most of whom do not have these top-class classical musical opportunities otherwise at this age. Professional instrument tutors and conductors offer rigorous instruction on broad-ranging, demanding symphonic repertoire which develops the childrens’ orchestral playing skills and musical technique particularly listening and working as a team. Concert experience is core to the NCO training programme. All of the 8 residential and 4 regional courses culminate in a concert, and the older two orchestras regularly perform in prestigious venues including Symphony Hall, Birmingham and the Queen Elizabeth Hall, London, to which the public is invited. In addition to their musical development, the NCO contributes towards the broader educational, social and intellectual development of these children through encouragement of aspiration, self-respect and hard work.
