The Queen's Hall in Edinburgh wishes to improve audience comfort and maximise trading revenues by reconfiguring the Front of House spaces around the Concert Hall . Two new bars will be created to complement improved access and toilet accommodation. Works will also include the renewal of the heating and ventilation systems which are nearing the end of their lives and a new 120 seat studio venue for education and community work.

    Situation

The Queen's Hall already earns or raises 80% of its running costs and operates on one of the lowest public subsidies (20%) in the UK given the quality of its music programme. In this climate it is vital for the organisation to maximise its trading revenues . On a sold out concert with 900 people in the building, perhaps 40% of these are served drinks because of the crush. Essentially we are seeking support to enable us to become more self - sufficient. Plans are in the early stages but we reckon the project will cost £7M.+ We are seeking a donor who is interested in working closely with us and perhaps has some association with Edinburgh or The Queen's Hall itself and wants to preserve this wonderful Heritage asset for the city and believes that live music should prosper in this 'national treasure' .
