Imagine being sent to prison for a crime you did not commit. Now imagine what that feels like at Christmas. Please help us give innocent prisoners the gift of freedom and bring them home to their families - if not by this Christmas, then by next.

    Situation

British justice is meant to be ‘the best in the world’, and yet, following years of neglect it is in crisis. Massive cuts to the police, prosecution and legal aid, non-disclosure of evidence and the use of flawed forensic science mean that innocent people have been wrongly convicted. Exposing and righting a wrongful conviction requires experience, persistence and resources which our broken criminal justice system doesn't have. Innocent people and their families are paying the price for this.

    Solution

Hundreds of innocent people are sitting in prison cells this Christmas, for crimes they did not commit. Help us give them the gift of freedom. APPEAL fights for the freedom of wrongly convicted people in the courts, the media, and in Parliament. We review hundreds of applications each year, identify strong cases of innocence, gather the documents in the case, and find new evidence by going out on the streets interviewing witness and instructing the best experts to carry out forensic testing.
