Two of our projects in The Gambia need your help: a nursery school and a health centre. The extreme West African weather conditions (including the annual rains) don’t help any buildings or their contents but we are particularly interested in the well-being of our schoolchildren and patients.

Situation

The Gambia has always been a poor country. Generally, health and education facilities have been very basic and the situation has deteriorated. This is due to a downturn in the economy, as tourism (the main source of revenue) has declined drastically.

Solution

Enthusiatic teachers at Jappineh Nursery School provide a good education for over 100 pupils using the Jolly Phonics method - the secret lies in the fun of it and the way it captures young imaginations. 32 new benches and 8 new tables will equip Classes 1
