The Grade 2* listed War Memorial within the Cathedral grounds is a monument to the sacrifice of local soldiers who lost their lives in the World Wars. Sadly, it is in desperate need of repair as much of the masonry has been damaged due to erosion. Biological growths and dirt have also covered the commemorative plaques and stonework and improvements to the setting are required to make it safe and accessible for all.

The memorial will be restored and thoroughly cleaned so it is in the best possible condition for the long term future. In addition, the installation of an accessible pathway and extended plinth will mean Wheelchair users can get close to the monument for
