    Situation

    Pain is the number one concern for people with arthritis. It limits their ability to work, sleep, and do things they enjoy. Current drugs are only partially effective or bring side-effects. Two people with identical levels of joint damage can feel very different levels of pain. Developing treatments requires understanding of the complex interactions between arthritis in the joints and the mechanisms of pain perception in the brain.
