    Situation

Senegal has had a serious “epidemic” of schistosomiasis due to the completion of dams across the Senegal river which create the perfect breading ground for this deadly disease. WHO recognised the severity of the situation and facilitated the donation of drugs for treatment. Lack of funds for delivery has prevented millions of children receiving the single annual treatment to combat schistosomiasis. If the drugs are not delivered by July 2012 they will be out of date and have to be destroyed!

    Solution

Provide the government of Senegal with the necessary technical and financial assistance required to distribute the donated tablets to their at risk population.
