The European Union Baroque Orchestra uniquely provides talented young musicians from all over Europe with the training and experience necessary for careers in baroque music. It acts as a bridge between conservatoire study and professional life; former EUBO members are in all major baroque ensembles

    Situation

    EUBO was founded in 1985 in response to a growing interest in historically informed performances of baroque music and a consequent demand for musicians. With the continued level of demand for baroque music, EUBO provides the required training. EUBO also reduces the disparity of opportunity between students in European countries where baroque music performance and education is well developed and those where opportunities to study baroque instruments or attend concerts are small or non-existent.

    A completely new orchestra will be chosen in 2012 from the most talented young students from all over Europe. 100 candidates will take part in one of the four-day audition courses and the 22 successful candidates, from 11 or more EU countries, will be mem
