    Situation

Lack of opportunities for children and young people to experience and be involved in creative and arts activities-Birmingham is the youngest city in Europe with 40% of the population aged 25 and under. However with 40% of the population living in some of the poorest areas in England, it means less disposable income for families for activities beyond daily essentials. This, compounded with schools having arts budgets cut has led to many young people being denied access to a well-rounded education

    Solution

Our Hippodrome Education Network consist of over 30 schools from across disadvantaged parts of Birmingham and the West Midlands. Children and young people have year round activities from specialist Learning Officers in the school environment, as well as the chance to take part in workshops, perform on our stages and create their own artworks. We also support young people to achieve their Arts Awards – a national qualification – and take part in careers events.
