Geraldine Connor Foundation (GCF) was established in 2012 to continue the work and vision of Geraldine Connor by bringing people together through arts and culture. We bring together different art forms and practitioners from all cultures to nurture new talent and provide arts opportunities for all.

    Situation

Young people currently have limited access to the arts due to the decreased provision in schools and changes to the national curriculum. In addition, subsidised local authority arts activity has been reduced due to government cuts. Many of these young people have no access to private music or dance tuition because of their poor economic means, meaning that they do not have the opportunity to recognise and develop their talents.

    Solution

‘Summer Global Collective’ is a 10-day summer school involving a variety of workshops and activities culminating in a newly created performance piece. This will enable children and young people to be involved in a high quality, future-focused, performance and digital arts programme. There will be participation fees, but we have budgeted for a high percentage of half or full bursaries in the event of financial situation preventing a young person from attending.
