We believe that above all else, every child should grow up in a safe home, surrounded by a loving family. We want to equip the community in Mpigi, Uganda, with the tools to protect their own children by training them to be the first line of defence to ensure each child grows up in a loving home.

I saw children on the streets, stranded and with no help. I decided to volunteer to help them. I have been helping children and families ever since
I am breaking the family separation cycle in my community
In Uganda, families in poverty and crisis are forced to give up their children to orphanages in the hope of a better life. These families are extremely vulnerable, marginalised and at a very high risk of abuse, neglect and isolation. Without appropriate support, children are at risk of being placed in an orphanage, even though most of them have family, while their chance to fulfil their potential is greatly reduced.
We will establish 8 community hubs and train 177 community volunteers to support vulnerable families by providing counselling, family visits and monitoring, to equip the parents to give their children the best possible start in life. Trained community volunteers will help families to improve living conditions, strengthen family and social relationships, provide for physical and mental health, provide access to education and livelihoods. They will also help identify any child protection issues.
