Building Brighter Futures in Zambia 2019

  • “I had to leave school early because my parents couldn’t afford the fees,” she explains. “This meant that my job options were few, so when I heard about the building training it was too good to pass up.”

Zambia is a poor country with 64% of the population living below the poverty line, with no regular income. Skills training is only available for 10% of young people leaving school despite a chronic shortage of skills in the building sector. With 65% of the population under the age of 24 there are many motivated and energetic young people desperate for the opportunity to build a brighter future for themselves and their family.

Build It International focuses on providing opportunities for young men and women and their communities to work their way out of poverty. We train builders, and have pioneered a simple and highly effective model in Zambia which is enabling hundreds of unemployed young people to learn essential building skills, and at the same time help to build vital schools and clinics for thousands of children.
