Global Greengrants Fund supports grassroots environmental movements around the world. We invest in the leadership of youth, women, indigenous people, and those with disabilities because we believe that when local people have a say in the health of their natural resources, they are forces for change.

    Situation

We have less than 12 years to avoid catastrophic climate change. Inspired by Greta Thunberg, youth from all over the world are striking for their future and for action on climate change. Young people devise creative climate campaigns, run green enterprises, and build resilience to climate change, but they have little access to funding to implement their innovative ideas to save our planet. To address this, Global Greengrants Fund supports youth-led climate initiatives around the world.

    Solution

We believe in the power of youth mobilisation. In 2012, we created the Next Generation Climate Board, our programme on youth and climate. Comprised of 6 global youth leaders, the Board provides grants and mentoring to groups on the front line of the climate crisis. Our programme supported the first school strike against climate change in 2015. Funds raised this year will help youth pursue green initiatives, seek climate justice, and be stronger advocates for the future of our beautiful planet.
