  • The social action taught me about working together. It taught me that if an impactful leader believes in something, it is almost certain that their followers will believe it too. Leadership is critical for impact.

    — Past participant

  • I liked the actual facts, learning about the science of it and about ways we can create sustainable ways of living... I definitely benefited from learning more scientific concepts and understanding terms and getting a deeper knowledge.

    — Part Participant, Grade 9

  • I think that this is a very good age to be exposed to this information... I have known of global warming & cimate change but never of the things that cause it...I thought it was super complicated so didn’t bother to learn.I certainly didn't think I could do anything about it. Everyone should do this

    — Participant, 2018

  • By taking this course it made me realise that it’s not someone else’s problem because we are the someone else to someone else. There is no “them”, there is only us.

    — Past Participant, Year 10

There are 3.5bn young people in the world today, over double the number of 50 years ago. In the same period, global social and environmental change has reached crisis point, presenting challenges that must be resolved urgently. Young people will be most affected by these challenges and are pivotal to their successful resolution. They are not being exposed early enough to the principles of sustainability, its challenge or opportunities, so remain untapped as an informed force for change.

The Sygnature Award meets the growing need for young people to gain a deep understanding of sustainability principles and how to action them. This unique programme, developed with the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (SA), provides 21 century skills and knowledge of key concepts of systems thinking and complexity theory: it's a powerful opportunity for youth to become future-fit, to be able to make better informed life/career choices and to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
