Through the Spear Programme, Resurgo has worked with over 6,000 young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, helping them overcome their challenges and get into work. With the help of The Big Give, we can open a new centre to reach even more young people with this life-changing support.

Situation
There are over three quarters of a million young people not in education, employment or training in the UK. Resurgo works with some of the most vulnerable of these young people; those who have failed in education, been involved in crime or have grown up in care. Many feel pushed to the edges of society and have little hope for their future. We seek to empower young people with the self-belief and skills required to transform their future prospects; impacting their families and communities too.
Solution
Spear is a 1 year programme helping 16-24 year olds overcome disadvantage to find and sustain employment. Through a proven coaching programme, we challenge their mindsets and attitudes and equip them with the skills they need for the workplace; from CV writing to professional communication, bringing about long-term change. 75% of those who complete Spear get into work and remain there a year later. By opening a new centre in an area of deprivation, we can change even more young peoples’ lives.
