Situation
We’re facing a climate crisis. In little more than a century, human activity has increased global temperatures by around 1°C and we’re currently hurtling towards 1.5°C of warming in less than 12 years. Inadequate action nationally and internationally means we’re still on course for a catastrophic 3°C of global warming. Every small increase in global temperatures means more alarming effects of climate breakdown – from flooding and food shortages, to wildfires and species going extinct.
Solution
We will mobilise and support a groundswell of people and local communities through Climate Action Groups. They will campaign for local Climate Action Plans as well as putting pressure on the UK Government to urgently adopt our national Climate Action Plan by the end of 2020. Our Plan will put the UK on a pathway to reduce net greenhouse gas emissions to zero by 2045 at the latest and will help us build a fairer, greener country for all.
