    Situation

The London borough of Tower Hamlets faces huge challenges around child poverty, unemployment, cultural integration and educational aspiration. Funding cuts in schools have led to a decline in access to creative learning experiences which enhance and underpin their personal and educational development. Research indicates that participating in music projects results in better academic results, better workforce opportunities, and more civic engagement amongst young people.

    Solution

Our work delivers high-quality and inspiring music experiences in a network of Tower Hamlets schools through interactive and creative music workshops and concerts for primary school children from mainstream and SEN/D schools, exposing children to professional musicians and experiences that broaden their horizons and raise aspirations. Song-writing builds literacy and music skills, while collaborative activities enhance vital communication and teamwork skills, as well as individual confidence.
