    Situation

By Year 6, children already start to rule out certain careers as being “not for them” and struggle to see the link between their lessons and the world of work. Disadvantaged pupils often lack relatable role models which limits their goals and aspirations early on. Studies have found interacting with employers motivates pupils to achieve, but state schools struggle to provide these interactions meaning their students are falling behind their more advantaged peers even before secondary school.

    Solution

We’ll bring pupils into the City for aspiration-raising workshops hosted by London businesses. Pupils will step out their comfort zone to interview employee volunteers and work in teams to complete case studies linking the classroom to the boardroom. Teachers will receive pre & post-session resources to allow students & parents to explore key themes. The sessions will dispel myths and stereotypes, provide real role models and help students develop their confidence, communication and teamwork.
