    Situation

Street homelessness continues to rise in the UK. Roughly 1 in 15 rough sleepers in England are found in Westminster, where our services are based. Sleeping rough is not only frightening, but also demoralising, isolating and dangerous. The life expectancy of a Rough sleeper is just 47 as opposed to 77 for the general population, and they are 13 times more likely to be a victim of violence. The longer someone stays on the streets, the more likely they are to develop health and addiction problems

    Solution

We provide a vital and potentially life-saving service, that helps people to cope with the immediate and physical crisis of being homeless. Our emergency accommodation service welcomes up to 75 people a night, who benefit from shelter, showers, laundry services, a hot evening meal and breakfast the next day. They feel safe and secure and can talk to experienced staff who act as a gateway to our longer-term specialist services including housing, employment, mental health and addiction support.
