The world is battling war and violence, and deadly conflicts are tearing through communities like never before. It touches and destroys lives, meaning that our work has never been more urgent. We support people living in areas of conflict to find their own solutions to war and conflict.

I’ve been a patron of Peace Direct since it was founded fifteen years ago. In this time, we’ve grown from a simple, sustainable idea to an international organisation working in twelve different countries with 16 local partners – but there are still so many more people and places for us to reach.
Peace Direct was set up, to support grassroots peacebuilders, because local people tend to know best how to resolve local conflicts.
We donated to Peace Direct today because we are on holiday in Sri Lanka and believe that promoting peace between ethnic and faith groups here is super important!
Every minute two people die because of war. Every day one in five of us wake up in conflict. Families are forced to flee their homes, communities are attacked, girls are scared to go to school, young boys are forced into a life of fighting. This must stop. International efforts alone are not working: wars restart, conflicts continue and violence leads to further violence. Local people are not involved in resolving conflicts and they must be. But, they need our support and funding.
By supporting local peacebuilders to stop war and conflict. They rebuild lives, resolve conflicts, and stop people from choosing a life of violence. We partner with local groups to help them give more people the skills, tools and knowledge to build lasting peace in their communities. We will also give local peacebuilders a global platform, so the international community sees that they should be an integral part of the solution.Together, we will stop wars and conflict, one person at a time.
