To provide shelter for one million people displaced by natural and other disasters within Africa. In addition to ongoing response to emergencies around the world, ShelterBox has set itself the ambition of helping 1,000,000 of Africa's displaced. As well as providing the basics of survival, our aid will bring new hope to the innocent victims of disasters and the chance to stabilise and reorganise their lives with dignity.

Situation
Africa is the world's 2nd largest continent with 50 countries and immense natural resources. However, it is also the scene of some of the world's greatest poverty and suffering on an unimaginable scale. Victims of famine, war and other disasters that occur in Africa are often counted in the millions. Most of these victims are women and children. Since 2002, ShelterBox has delivered emergency shelter and other aid to ten countries in Africa - Algeria, Angola, Burundi, Kenya, Liberia, Somalia, Somaliland, Sudan and Uganda. ShelterBox has no political or religious affiliation and works in partnership with local charities and international aid organisations. Our partners in Africa have included local Rotary clubs, the Red Cross, the Salvation Army, UNHCR and UNICEF. Aid is delivered with the help of trained volunteers from our ShelterBox Response Team. These volunteers are responsible for delivering aid in country and making sure it reaches those who need it most.
