Age Exchange has been running for 26 years and has always had a total inclusion policy, however, over time our visitors facilities have fallen below the standard, which we see as being fit for purpose. We welcome people of all ages and abilities to our Centre and encourage them to participate in exciting arts activities, theatre, dance and reminiscence projects. Our projects bring generations and cultures together to share their memories in a safe and welcoming environment. We have recently fundraised for a new wheelchair lift, which has enabled disabled people and older people to be independent when accessing our Centre through the front door. Our Theatre is located in another location, which has a treacherous sloping driveway, which has become more and more pot-holed and makes it very dangerous for wheelchair and Zimmer frame users. We are now fundraising to provide a new smooth surface which will make the slope less steep together with clear markings for those who are visually impaired. In addition we need to improve the disabled WCs in both buildings to provide new equipment and in particular changing facilities for our younger disabled visitors.
