A program of projects to take a region of Ethiopia out of poverty and become self sustaining. We will work with this one region to ensure everyone has access to clean water, basic healthcare, education and sufficient income to support themselves and re invest in their own communities such that the entire community is self supporting in the fuure

Situation
We have selected Debark, a region of Northern Ethiopia and are supporting a wide range of projects over a number of years. The program's aim is to make the region self sustainable. We do this by discussing the needs of the local villagers in detail, and then providing capital to fund the infrastructure. We do not give any aid. The projects we work on cover: Clean Water Basic Healthcare Access to Education Agriculture. These areas allow the population to improve their health, reduce the time needed to fetch water, allow the children to gain qualifications to work in teaching and nursing roles and provide an income, and improves the agriculture, so that the region generates sufficient income to feed the population and to re-invest in the farms, schools , healthpost and other infrastructure we have created. At this point the region should be self supporting and our goals are met. We only work on one region at a time so we are focussed on attaining the goals of that region rather than spraying the money ineffectively in large regions. Overall we estimate the region requires £1.5-£2mn to ensure all villagers have clean water, schools, a healthpost, improved agriculture and access to local markets to allow a decent income level. The speed at whicih we can achieve this is governed by the levels of donations we get and we have many projects ready to go that just need funds. All funds go directly to the projects as we are 100% run by volunteers and have no UK offices etc to pay for. All projects are audited by the team and all monies accounted for in a very detailed manner. Please help us to acelerate these projects as the faster we act, the quicker lives will be improved and lives saved from very basic disease caused by lack of clean water.
