The current floods in Pakistan are the worst for many years. Most of the people affected were already desperately poor, and many of them have now seen their few possessions and even their homes completely washed away. Oxfam is helping people survive.

Situation
21 million people are estimated to have been affected by the flooding in Pakistan. Survivors have lost their homes and possessions and there is a serious threat of widespread outbreaks of disease.
Solution
We were already working in the affected areas in the Northwest and we have sent in additional experts to boost the efforts of our existing staff, partners, and local authorities. Assessments have shown the dire need for clean water and sanitation as disease rates rise, and we are also looking at other outstanding needs With the help of our partners, we are providing emergency services.
