The Grassroots Endowment Challenge Cambridgeshire is an exciting opportunity to double the impact of charitable giving that strengthens your local community. Between 2008 and 2011, because of a special government incentive, every £1 that you give will be matched by a special government incentive so that it is worth £2.56 . If you are a higher rate tax payer you may claim tax relief so the gift only costs you 75p – more than doubling your impact.

    Situation

Thanks to support from the Office of the Third Sector, Cambridgeshire Community Foundation (CCF) is able to match funding for donors wanting to encourage and fund the long term growth of small charities and voluntary organisations in Cambridgeshire– organisations which provide really effective support to people in need. With the support we receive from donors, we fund a wide range of such groups including the Libra Theatre Company that run drama workshops for adults with physical and learning disabilities, Mepal Good Companions which runs a friendship club for older people, Cambridge Online which provides computer training, advice and education to disabled and disadvantaged people, and the Ely Youth Initiative which offers positive activities for young people. CCF is firmly rooted in the local community and experts in supporting local organisations. We ensure that the grants that are made are relevant to local needs, with all kinds of additional benefits to tackle the issues that really make a difference to local deprivation. All the distributing foundations have been independently assessed as meeting quality standards endorsed by the Charity Commission. Any donations that are made, together with the match funding, are invested in special endowment funds and invested effectively for the long term benefit of Cambridgeshire people in need. Every year your gift will be part of a fund that contributes to helping local people and, in that sense, it is a gift that keeps on giving. Gifts of any size may be made, but if you give over £10,000 you can also be involved in specifying the kinds of issues and geographical areas where your gift may be used.
