Tobacco Factory Arts Trust

The Tobacco Factory Theatre is recognised nationally as a centre of creation, development and learning. We need to seek support to ensure the continuation of our first class artistic, community and education work, and to help us realise our plans in these areas for the future.

The Tobacco Factory Theatre is a dynamic, innovative and popular studio theatre and rehearsal room located in the heart of South Bristol. Registered as a charity in 2005, we are recognised nationally as a centre of creation, development and learning, and produce and present a diverse and exciting programme of theatre and other performing arts. This is complemented by a programme of education, community and creative learning projects. The mission of the Theatre is to be the most important studio theatre in the region, a cultural flagship for the local community, an innovative social and cultural hub and an inspirational model of urban renewal. In 2009 the Tobacco Factory Theatre welcomed over 80,000 audience members to 467 performances across 48 weeks of the year. We are proud that we directly earn the vast majority of our income: around 85% of our income comes from box office, bar sales, room hire, workshops and other earned income. We get 7% from public sources but every year we still have to find 8% of our turnover, around £100,000, from other sources to keep us afloat.
