We currently have 260 children in our two schools in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia that need to get funded again for next year in 2010. We are providing free schooling, a free lunch everyday and many other extracurricular activities to one of the poorest neighborhoods in Addis Ababa, in order to fight the problem of illiteracy in Ethiopia. We take each child through to employment and self sufficiency in order to escape the poverty cycle. We believe this crucial follow through is key to changing the future and fulfilling basic needs alone is not enough.

These two schools, a nursery school and a primary school have been up and running for 3 years now and we are building a network of services around these two schools that ensure each child will succeed in finding employment after they finish their education. This means that we offer vocational training, scholarships to secondary education, income generating activities and general community programs to their communityso that each child will reach self sufficiency - one child at a time, tailored to their ability. Each child costs us £180 per school year to provide an education, extra curricular activities and a lunch program.
