Staunton-on-Wye Pre-school and Kids' Club

A new build to house existing and desperately needed community-run services for families and children in an isolated rural area. The majority of the funding is in place and building work has started; we need your help to finish the job by fitting out the building and providing an outdoor play space.

We are going to provide a single building to house both our neighbouring primary school and all our services for the toddler and pre-school age group, the out of school and holiday club, access to health services, and a meeting point for isolated parents and carers. We have an excellent record on caring for children with special needs; our new building will radically improve access to our services for disabled children and adults. The school has its own funding programme in place; we need to find £310,000 for our part of the build. We have already raised £270,000 and now need to put the final pieces of the jigsaw in place. Building work started in November 2009 and is due for completion by Nov 2010. The remaining funding needed is for fxitures, fittings and outdoor play areas. The building will be a beacon of good practice in sustainability; see for examples of our architects' practice. Detailed costings with identified opportunities for dedicated gifts are available. The project has the support of the local community and the local authority, but neither are able to provide all the funding needed for the project.
