Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a global disease effecting more than 2 million people around the world. World MS Day is a key mechanism for unifying and supporting MS Societies and affiliated organisations throughout the world. The project seeks to identify ways to reach out to as many people as possible to raise the profile of the disease and achieve 100,000 registrations. Evidence of such a constituency of support will create greater leverage with global policy makers and bring about greater co-operation and sharing of research into and treatment of MS. MSIF funded development of a website, promoted over 200 events in 137 countries and secured part sponsorship of a campaign film for use by national MS Societies in the future, amounting to close to £150K. We are seeking additional funding of up to £100K for the development of resources to take World MS Day forward beyond 2009.
