The RIBA Education Fund is an important mechanism by which the RIBA can assist students of architecture make it through the seven year degree. Many students will end up accruing over £20,000 of debt on three year courses. For architectural students, this can double. The nature of the course and system means that these people work some of the longest hours for the least pay around. Part of the road to becoming an architect sees students entering into architectural practices at year 4 and year 7 of study. Sometimes these talented and hard-working students will receive no stipend from their employers and will still be expected to work as long and hard as professionals. The RIBA Education Fund alleviates some of the stress, the shortcomings and the securtiy worries that plague students working towards an end goal many years down the line. Joining The Big Give is an opportunity to try and gather donations and advertise our existence. It doesn't matter if the donations are small or large, all are welcome. The charitable work of the RIBA has seen many new bursaries and scholarships come and go but the RIBA Education Fund will persist through, ensuring that all monies in go directly to students.
