    Situation

Running several programmes in countries with unstable environments and infrastructure means a lot of unpredictable contingencies. Medical, financial and other emergencies crop up all the time in our operations, and just like any individual or family we need an emergency fund to deal with these situations as they come up. By donating to this fund, your money will be used where it is needed the most, making all of SolarAid’s projects possible, helping us avoid financial bottlenecks that mean the projects have to be slowed down or halted all together. Raising £40k through the matched funding on the Big Give, would mean 4 months running expenses for us which can be stretched out a lot longer as it will be used as emergency relief when unexpected costs come up. This will ensure the smooth running of our operations and means that we can consistently deliver to our beneficiaries without interrupption. Because of the sensitive nature of our work, which often allows communities to generate enough income during the ‘hungry season’ to afford food, it is imperative that we are always financially equiped to provide products to our beneficiaries. This can mean the difference between life and death for our franchisees who rely on the income from the sales to feed their families during droughts and yearly hungry season, as well as clinic patients who need our solar panels to have access to blood transfusions and vaccines.
