XLP is a rare life taking condition where research is still in its infancy. Our first round of grants has thrown up a range of new exciting research opportunities which we now wish to look to fund. The charity will go through an extensive peer review process to ensure that the grants will go to the right projects.
It ran from 12:00 AM, 7 December 2009 to 11:59 PM, 11 December 2009

As a fledling charity representing a rare lifetaking condition worldwide we were delighted last year to be able to fund 3 important medical research projects into XLP. Full details of these projects can be found on our web site. But we know that this is just the start of along journey towards a potential 'safe' cure and so we are now looking to start the process of going through a second round of medical research grants (using a full peer review process as approved by the Association of Medical Research Charities) to help start to answer some of the questions that the first round through up. Possible options include research into potential gene therpahy as well as exploring the possibility of a vacine for EBV. Each project will cost in the region of £40 to £50k.
