Help the Hospices is the leading charity supporting hospice care across UK. Our role is to support our 200+ member hospices in helping them provide the best possible end of life care for whoever needs it. One vital way we do that is through professional development grants to hospice staff.

Situation
With palliative care modules still only an optional module on most degree and diploma courses, those who wish to specialise in end of life care are forced to seek further training in order to develop the specialist skills they need. We are facing an increasing need for our training grants at the moment. The costs of training have been rising, and many people are unable to finance the more expensive courses, such as the MSc in palliative care. To help address this problem, we recently raise

Professional development grants were established by Help the Hospices more than 25 years ago to address this problem. They are open to all staff at UK member hospices and all clinical staff associate member hospices. Bursaries may be used to help finance a wide range of courses, conferences and study days which will help to improve the quality of care given to people in need of palliative care and their families. Hospices find this one of our most valuable services.
