We are going to open The National Seahorse Centre here at Escot in Devon, this will give us a centre to focus our captive breeding and educational work. As well as being open to the public we will invite students from around the world to come and train with us and from here they will go out into the world to work on Seahorse Trust and other projects.

    Situation

It will be open to the public for a small admission charge which will help to fund the work that we do. As a working research visitor centre the project will have a number of facets to it, such as research, education, promotion and awareness. We will be using it as a focus for the wider community where members of the community can come and volunteer, train and research with us, we will also invite volunteers , students and professionals from all over the world to come and spend time with us so we can share informmation and use this collecive information to go on and work on Seahorse Trust and other projects. As a captive breeding centre all the species held in the collection will be part of breeding and conservation programmes and the research undertaken will be shared freely with others to promote the conservation of those species. By providng this unique centre we will not only advance knowledge of Seahorse species around the world but also help individuals in their quest for knowledge and provide the general public with a a way of seeing and interacting with thses unique species.
