we encourage young people (18-25) to spend between 1 and 4 years in yeovil training in youth work and leadership and volunteering full time to work with the youth in the town. We run a range of projects ranging from an expansive schools work programme, youth groups across the town, a youth cafe, street dance classes, rock school classes, media projects and camps

    Situation

We commit to provide accomodation and board to every team member and basic expenses and invest in them as people through training, mentoring and support. They come from all over the world including palestine, brazil, north america and Europe and commit to working in our various projects where they support the youth in the town. Each team member costs us up to £6000 and the team this year consists of 17 volunteers. we work in every secondary school in the town, working alongside the pastoral and behavioural department and provide long term preventative intervention to students from across the school. this work includes mentoring, one on one support, class support, clubs and societies and small group work. We also have a junior school programme where we work with children who struggle socially, emotionally or behaviourally and provide small group work, drama workshops, one on one work and class support. We are also exploring expanding the programme into infant schools. all this is done in cooperation with the Yeovil Federation. We also run youth groups for children and teenagers ranging from 4 up to 18 in a variety of locations across the town. these are very popular with over 250 attending every week. We also have renovated a church hall on one estate converting it in to a youth centre and cafe which is very well attended every session of the week. We also run specialist classes such as street dance and rock academy and also run camps and holidays which are very popular. This project is expanding in size, scope and impact every year and we are excited to see what it can achieve in this generation.
