    Situation

It is well documented that development training when linked to outdoor activities can provide young people with links between feelings and learning. It provides memorable experiences that help young people to understand and manage risk, as well as affecting behaviour, lifestyle and work prospects*. *(see the Learning Outside the Classroom Manifesto and http://reviewing.co.uk/research/active-lifestyle-obesity.htm) The Mobex 20 Day Challenge Programme will consist of: · PART 1: a 3-day selection programme designed to examine teamwork, leadership skills and commitment – 2 groups of 10 will spend 3 days taking part in a selection procedure that will enable 10 young people from both groups to move on to Part 2 · PART 2: a 3-day selection programme designed to move up an element to examine teamwork, leadership and commitment – 8 young people will move on to Part 3 · PART 3: a 14-day skills development programme designed to enable each young person to develop a Personal Action Plan that will enable them to utilise outdoor education as a means of transferring what they learn to other areas of their life with the primary purpose being to influence decisions regarding employment, training or education. · PART 4: A graduation ceremony where each individuals progress and development will be celebrated within a formal context.
