Situation

The Arthouse is an innovative venture that gives people with multiple disabilities a sense of pride, developing their confidence and creativity. Arthouse artists of mixed abilities are given the opportunity to create artworks in printing and painting, which are shown and sold at professional exhibitions and galleries. Taught by professional working artists, Arthouse artists are encouraged to express their personal perceptions and ways of seeing, creating their unique pieces of art. So far, the Arthouse has exhibited and sold at exhibitions and galleries including the Mall Galleries, London, the Ruskin, Oxford and Chelsea and Brighton Art Fairs. Arthouse artists receive incentive payments and money from artworks sold at exhibition goes back into the project. Visit www.the-arthouse.co.uk to see examples of artists' work. The Arthouse really wants to increase the number of exhibitions it exhibits at, but currently, transporting artists' canvases is a problem, due to not having a bespoke, dedicated van. £20,000 is needed to purchase a new van fitted with racking, which will alleviate the problem of damaged canvases and limited availability of transport. The Arthouse also wishes to increase the number of commerical outlets through which it can sell Arthouse merchandise, and seeks someone with commerical acumen who would value the opportunity to be involved in an inspirational project on a voluntary basis.
