Our project will adopt the 'whole family approach' as we believe that this is the way foward. We will be working in partnership with Wexham Secondary School, running a pilot project for Young Carers. Our aim is to identify and support Young Carers age 0-18 who take on or share the responsibilities of caring for parents, siblings or relatives with disabilities. We will provide support in the form of respite care, drop in sessions at the school and support for the family by working with other agencies / organisations within the community to provide relevant support. In the long term we wiould like to be able to work with ALL schools in Slough so that we can identify and support all young carers within the borough.
