    Situation

Our Appeal seeks to raise £35million to complete a programme of modernisation, necessary to meet the needs of the 21st Century and conform to current care standards. This project is divided into two phases; the first being the building of a new state-of-the-art infirmary, already under construction, and the second being the upgrade and modernisation of the pensioners’ accommodation, known as the Long Wards. As well as being a historically significant site, The Royal Hospital Chelsea aims to become a beacon of excellence providing first class care to the Nation’s elderly veteran soldiers, who have given a lifetime of service to our country. With the current conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, it is paramount that the Royal Hospital Chelsea remains a place where, today’s and tomorrow’s veterans are able see out their twilight years in comfort and peace.
