    Situation

This project is about getting young people to improve their local environment by practically volunteering. The project works mainly in disadvantaged areas in Nottingham and gets a wide range of young people involved in volunteering including those who have committed crimes. The kind of things the young people get involved in are growing food in an allotment for a lunch club for elderly people, looking after a community garden created on a patch of wasteland, and promoting recycling. All the young people are volunteers who give up their own time and receive no payment or incentives.
